About the Organization
The National Center for Assistive Health Technologies (NCAHT-IITM) is an experience showcase center enabling research and development in Assistive Technology. It is initiated by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and implemented by Rehabilitation Research and Device Development (R2D2-IITM) at the IIT Madras Research Park.
NCAHT-IITM runs multiple programs, including:
• Wheelchair Skills Training
• Prosthetic Training
• Adaptive Sports Training Programs
• Assistive Technology (AT) Prescription
• Dissemination and Capacity-Building Workshops
• Product Development, User Trials, and Clinical Research
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy / Physiotherapy
Experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with persons with diverse disabilities
• Preferably experience in Pediatric, Adult, and Geriatric Neurological and Orthopedic conditions
Role Overview
This role offers an opportunity to work across clinical service delivery, training programs, research, and assistive technology innovation. The position requires frequent travel for training programs, workshops, user trials, and collaborative activities.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
• Conduct interdisciplinary client assessments, goal setting, and care planning
• Coordinate and deliver training across wheelchair skills, prosthetic, adaptive sports, and AT programs
• Work closely with clients and caregivers with a patient, empathetic, and positive approach
• Collaborate with users, clinicians, engineers, and other stakeholders
Research Responsibilities
• Provide clinical inputs for assistive technology and product development
• Support research protocol planning, outcome assessments, and documentation
• Conduct and assist with user trials, field studies, and collaborative research
• Participate in dissemination workshops and capacity-building initiatives

• Willingness and ability to travel frequently for program implementation and research activities
• Multilingual ability preferred
